Career Summary
The fifth overall pick of the 2007 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, Thompson joined the Men in Red in September, bringing a wealth of championship experience. A 2010 MLS Cup winner with the Colorado Rapids, Thompson adds depth and experience to the midfield, which will be invaluable to the Fire in the 2013 season.

2011
- Was honored at the end of the 2011 season as the Rapids Humanitarian of the Year for his continued involvement in local organizations and causes.
- Played in a career-high 31 matches, starting 22, and contributed a career-high three goals and three assists.
- Scored in the first minute of the match at Seattle Sounders FC (7/16), the fastest Rapids goal of the 2011 season.
- Scored the game winning goal against New York Red Bulls on 7/20 and at Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the final match of the regular season (10/22).
- Was one of only two Rapids players to play and start all six CONCACAF Champions League matches, playing 505 total minutes.
