Charlotte FC signed English forward Tyger Smalls on Feb. 14, 2024 following an impressive showing during preseason with the First Team. Smalls was acquired through the 2024 MLS SuperDraft when Charlotte FC traded up to the 14th overall pick to select the forward from Loyola Marymount University.

During Smalls’ first professional season in 2024, he made 17 appearances with the Club’s First Team across the regular season and Leagues Cup. He made his debut with CLTFC as a substitute on April 27 at NYCFC. The forward also spent time with the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, Crown Legacy FC. He featured 11 times in the regular season, all starts, and scored one goal against Chattanooga FC on Aug. 18. Smalls appeared in both of CLFC’s playoff matches, scoring a match-winning goal in stoppage time in the opening round against top-seeded FC Cincinnati 2.

Prior to his time in the Queen City, Smalls played one season at LMU, where he contributed seven goals and one assist in 20 matches. He began his collegiate career at Tyler Junior College where he bagged seven goals and added seven assists through 19 matches. Before Smalls arrived in the States, the forward came up through the Tottenham Hotspur youth system and had stints at Arsenal and Norwich City.

2024 (Charlotte FC): MLS Regular Season – Featured in 15 matches, coming off the bench in all but one appearance. Made his First Team debut off the bench on April 27 at NYCFC. Leagues Cup – Appeared in both of the Club’s matches off the bench. (Crown Legacy FC) MLS NEXT Pro Regular Season – Made 11 appearances, all of which being starts, totaling 752 minutes. Made his debut for CLFC on April 10 against Chicago Fire FC II. Scored his first professional goal against Chattanooga FC on Aug. 18. MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs – Appeared in both of the Club’s playoff run, scoring the game-winning goal in stoppage time in the opening round against top-seeded FC Cincinnati 2.
