Career Summary

Acquired

RSL: Selected in the second round (17th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft on 1/18/08

Tino Nuñez might have arrived at Real Salt Lake in 2008 with the lack of fanfare reserved for most Supplemental Draft picks, but the ex-UC Santa Barbara striker did have other things in tow that the RSL Technical Staff certainly picked up on - a championship pedigree and the willingness to prove his worth. The 24-year-old forward did just that during his first professional season, bagging five goals in Reserve Division play while also making nine appearances for the first-team, all consecutively during a stretch that happened to coincide with RSL's most successful run of the campaign, a 4-1-4 jaunt from late-May through July. The '06 College Cup champion as a member of the Gauchos made his first MLS goal stand tall, as his second half score against New England on June 21 would also count as his first game-winner, lifting RSL to a 2-1 win over a New England squad that, at the time, had the League's top record. With Real Salt Lake's forward corps undergoing some turnover in the offseason, Nuñez will again have the chance to prove his worth as the 2009 season approaches - but this time around he won't be an unknown commodity.
