CF Montréal sign Samuel Piette to contract extension
TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Extension CF Montréal have signed veteran midfielder Samuel Piette to a contract extension through 2027 with an option for 2028, the club announced Friday.
Samuel Piette joined CF Montréal via transfer from Spanish club CD Izarra in August 2017.
The Le Gardeur native headed to Europe in 2009 to join the FC Metz academy in France. He then joined the Fortuna Düsseldorf academy in Germany in 2012, playing for the reserve team in 2013 and finally the first team in 2014.
Piette then moved to Spain where he signed for Deportivo La Coruña's reserve team in August 2014 and then went on loan to Racing de Ferrol in August 2015. The midfielder subsequently joined CD Izarra, where he played in the 2016-17 season.
Piette finally returned home to CF Montréal in 2017, where he established himself as a force in midfield. He helped the Bleu-blanc-noir win the Canadian Championship in 2019 and 2021.
In 2023, Piette was named Club Captain, and in 2024 he became the first CF Montréal player to reach the 14,000-minute and 180 games played milestones in MLS.
On the international scene, Piette represented Canada at the 2024 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the Gold Cup on five occasions.
