Smith appeared in 32 matches in two seasons (2010-2011) for Sporting Kansas City, recording four goals and seven assists with the club. In 2011, Smith appeared in six matches after returning from offseason knee surgery, but his season was cut short in June after leaving the team for personal reasons. The English youth international brings along extensive club experience, starting off his career in Arsenal (2003-2005) from the English Premier League, then joining Leicester City (2005-2006), Derby County (2006-2007), Southampton (2008-2009) and Crystal Palace (2009-2010) before joining Sporting Kansas City.
Born in Islington, England, Smith has made one appearance for the England U-20 National Team. He likes working with his music in his free time, enjoys watching other sports, specifically golf and basketball. Smith has an older brother and a younger sister and a daughter. His 2011 season with Kansas City was cut short due to his mother’s illness (lupus) which forced Smith to relocate back to England.
