2009-2010: Hernandez spent the 2009-10 season with Defensor Sporting, also of the Uruguayan first division, seeing time in 11 games and scoring three goals.

2008-2009: Following his success with Atletico Tucuman, the Argentine spent 2008-09 with Racing Club de Montevideo of the Uruguayan first division, playing 14 games and scoring two goals.

2007-2008: Hernandez began his professional career in his hometown at 18 years old with Atletico Tucuman, then of the Argentina third division. He spent two seasons with the Argentine club, helping it earn promotion after the 2007-08 season, scoring 11 goals as the team climbed into the second division.
