Mike Jones

Jones was signed by the Red Bulls this season after being waived by Sporting Kansas city, who selected him in the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft. Jones, a left-footed defender, will compete for playing time on the Red Bulls backline.

Collegiate/Club
Jones played at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for four years, being named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Second Team in 2010 while playing 60 games during his college career, notching six goals and two assists. In his senior year, Jones and the Cougars were runners-up in the MVC Tournament.  Selected by Sporting Kansas City as the 28th overall selection in the 2011 MLS Supplemental draft on Jan. 18, 2011, before being waived on May 5. He did not make any MLS appearances for Kansas City, but played in one reserve league match.
