A strong, physical back-to-goal forward who can also create his own shot … looks to get other players involved in the play as the ball moves into the attacking third ... has extensive experience at the top levels of European soccer … teamed successfully with countryman Marko Perović as the duo combined to account for 11 goals and six assists in all competitions (16-of-38 goals), representing 42.1 percent of the team’s scoring … signed with the Revolution on July 30 and arrived in the U.S. on Friday, Aug. 6, after gaining his U.S. P-1 Visa.
2010: Made 14 MLS appearances, including 13 starts, all at forward after signing with the club midseason. Scored three goals and added two assists. Made his MLS debut against D.C. United (Aug. 7) when he came on for Zack Schilawski at forward in the 73rd minute. Recorded his first-career MLS goal – also the game-winning strike – against Houston (Aug. 14) as he made his first start with the Revs, playing 77 minutes. Scored the team’s lone goal against Philly (Aug. 28), converting while falling to the ground in a goal-box scrum. Tallied his first-ever MLS assist on Kheli Dube’s goal against Seattle (Sept. 4). Combined with countryman Marko Perovic to record his third goal of the season at Dallas (Sept. 22). Assisted on Kheli Dube’s game-winning goal at Houston (Oct. 10). Made his SuperLiga debut in the final against Monarcas Morelia (Sept. 1), playing 90 minutes.
BEFORE MLS: Began his career with Serbia’s FK Zemun, starting with the club’s youth teams in 1985 and debuting with the first team in 1995 ... after three seasons, he transferred to Spain’s EU Lleida for one season ... returned to Serbia in 1999 to play two seasons at FK Partizan with seven goals in 25 appearances, before making a return engagement at FK Zemun through January 2003 when he scored 40 goals and added 11 assists in 58 appearances ... played for two seasons each at FK Metalurg Donetsk (Ukraine – 14 goals, 33 appearances) and OFK Beograd (Serbia - eight goals, 12 appearances) before his move to Belgium with Sint-Truidense (44 appearances, 12 goals, seven assists)… Made 11 appearances for Greece’s OFI Crete (Jan.-June 2009) and then performed for Montenegro’s FC Budocnost (Jan-June 2010) before moving to MLS mid-season in 2010.
SERBIA NATIONAL TEAM: Has two caps with the Serbia National Team, both coming in 2003 …a former member of Serbia’s Under-21 and Olympic teams.
PERSONAL: Is married to Jelena… the couple has one son, Konstantin (2) … speaks five languages: Serbian, English, Russian, Spanish and French … enjoys reading and watching movies in his spare time, as well as playing tennis … favorite soccer memory were his two call-ups to the Serbia National Team.
