• 2011: FC Dallas’ captain recorded career highs in games played (30), games started (30) and minutes played (2,668). He matched his MLS career high with two game-winning assists and had a total of four on the season. One of his two goals was a game-winner. He converted the only penalty kick attempt of his MLS career when he beat Toronto FC goalkeeper Stefan Frei in stoppage time of the first half to lead Dallas to a 1-0 win.
• 2010: Named team captain at the start of the season...One of six FC Dallas players to surpass the 2,000 minute mark on the season...Started all 24 matches in which he appeared... Played every minute of FC Dallas’ four playoff matches despite suffering from a torn lateral meniscus which required postseason surgery.
• 2009: Signed with FC Dallas on Sept. 8, 2009… Made his first appearance with FC Dallas on Sept. 12 versus the LA Galaxy as a second half substitute for Marvin Chavez…Made his first FCD start on Sept. 26 versus Real Salt Lake…Earned his first assist in a FCD uniform in the regular season finale on Oct. 24 versus Seattle…Made a total of seven appearances this season.
• 2008: Signed with Jaguares de Chiapas and made 13 appearances.
• 2007: Played with Puebla of the Mexican’s Primera Division, making seven appearances and scoring one goal.
• 2006: Started the first five games of the season - including the first two as a central defender in the three-man backline - before suffering a complex ankle injury that sidelined him for 25 games and resulted in surgery. Appeared in the final two games of the regular season and all four postseason games - starting three - including MLS Cup 2006 against Houston.
• 2005: Returned to the Revs in August and slotted right back into the team with his poise and ability. Played in seven regular-season matches and all four of the Revs playoff games. Contributing a vital assist on Clint Dempsey's game-winner against Chicago in the Eastern Conference Championship game.
• 2003: Left the Revolution nine games into the season to join with Necaxa of the Mexican Primera division, signing on July 7, 2003.
• 2002: Hernandez came to the Revolution from the MetroStars in a six-man trade on May 24. With the Revs, he tallied three goals and an assist in the 2002 MLS campaign with the Revs. Played mostly in the defensive center midfield, becoming the team's freekick specialist. In the 2002 MLS Playoffs, tallied a goal and an assist in the quarterfinals to defeat the Fire. Though he sat out Game 2 against Columbus, he returned in Game 3 to steady the Revs' midfield as the squad qualified for the MLS Cup Final.
• 2001: Led the MetroStars to a 20-10-3 record (including playoffs) in league play as a starter in the 2001 season. He made the transition from defense to midfield in the second half of 2001, notching a career-high seven assists and adding one goal, a 91st-minute game-winner from midfield at Miami on Aug. 25 that was the first goal of his career. Played his first MLS games in the midfield against Chicago on June 30. Scored his first-ever MLS goal on a free kick in the 91st minute at Miami to clinch the 3-1 win; the goal was a candidate for MLS Goal of the Year.
• 2000: Traded from the Tampa Bay Mutiny to the MetroStars on April 19 in exchange for the rights to Daniel Alvarez. Played a total of 17 games - two with Tampa Bay and 15 with New York - recording two assists, both game-winning assists: on Mark Chung's goal against Tampa Bay on July 1 and on Alex Comas' goal at New England on July 15. Suffered a season-ending left ACL injury on July 25 in a U.S. Open Cup win over Tampa Bay. Selected to play in the 2000 MLS All-Star game, but was unavailable because of the injury.
• 1999: Made a total of 19 appearances - and 12 starts - between Los Angeles and Tampa Bay. Started the first five matches of the season for L.A. Traded from the Galaxy to the Mutiny on Aug. 13 for Jorge Salcedo. Made his Mutiny debut on Sept. 4 in a 5-1 victory over New England, and appeared in a total of two regular-season games for Tampa Bay.
• 1998: Drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the second round (18th overall) in the 1998 MLS College Draft. Played in 17 games for the Galaxy, making three starts, in his rookie season. Made MLS debut on 4/4/98 against the Colorado Rapids in a 2-0 win for the Galaxy. Recorded his first career point on Sept. 5 with an assist on Welton's game-tying goal against Miami.

INTERNATIONAL

Called to U.S. National Team camp by Bruce Arena for its friendly match against El Salvador on Nov. 17, 2002. Was also in the U.S. camp prior to the World Cup Qualifier vs. Panama on Oct. 12, 2005 and was named to the squad for that match. Was also a member of the U.S. Under-17, -18 and -23 National Teams.

COLLEGE

Played two years of major college football, along with soccer, at the Southern Methodist University, serving as the kicker for the Mustangs as a sophomore and junior before focusing solely on soccer as a senior. Was the NSCAA National Player of the Year in 1998 at SMU.

PERSONAL

Hernandez and his wife Tiphanie have three daughters (Candice, Caydence and Caylee). His favorite cuisine is Mexican. His favorite music is R&B. His favorite soccer moment is scoring against Club America at Azteca Stadium in front of his family. Hernandez is a native of Tyler, Texas (East of Dallas) where he has a soccer field, “Estadio Daniel Demetrio Hernandez,” named after him. He has a brother, Nico, and sisters Rebecca and Sara. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and holds both American and Mexican passports.
