After missing eight weeks, the Brazilian returned to action as a substitute in the ‘Caps 2-1 home win over Real Salt Lake on June 4. The Brazilian’s first season was cut short, however, as he suffered a fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot during a training session on August 14 and underwent successful surgery on August 23, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season. Despite his abbreviated first season, one of Caio Alexandre’s most impressive attributes during his first season with the ‘Caps was his 86.3% passing accuracy, which ranked second on the team amongst midfielders who started a match in 2021.
