Career Summary

Chivas USA announced on August 20, 2013, the signing of Chivas USA Academy forward Bryan de la Fuente, who was a member of the first team during the 2010 and 2011 seasons. Per Major League Soccer and club policies, details of the transaction will not be disclosed.

De la Fuente, who made his professional debut in MLS on Oct. 23, 2010, against the Chicago Fire, arrives to the first team after recently becoming state champion with Chivas USA’s U-23 squad. The forward scored three goals in the tournament, which helped lead the Red-and-White side to an undefeated season.

His participation with the U-23s earned him a pair of call-ups to the Reserve League against the LA Galaxy and Seattle Sounders FC. De la Fuente played the full 90 minutes in both games and tallied a goal against their cross-hall rival.

Born on July 1, 1992, in Laredo, Texas, de la Fuente joined Chivas Guadalajara’s Youth Academy in 2005 and then moved to the city of Bell, Calif., with his family. It was then that the player joined Chivas USA’s U-16 team under coaches Miguel Ramos and current U-23 manager Samuel Rivas. He then moved up to the U-18s under current youth academy director Sacha van der Most as his coach, as they participated in Copa Chivas and Copa Saprissa, two of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the CONCACAF region.

De la Fuente has also represented the US national team at the youth level.  In 2010, the forward was a member of the US U-20 side that conquered that year’s Milk Cup in Ireland. He was also featured in the team that participated in the Dallas Cup.
