Professional Experience
Made seven appearances and logged 518 minutes for IMG Academy Bradenton of the PDL, registering one assist. The Academics finished the season sixth in the PDL Southeast Division at 4-5-5.
2012: Made nine appearances and four starts for Chivas USA before before being traded to the New England Revolution on August 1. Overall, played 398 minutes in 11 appearances (five starts) in 2012. Recorded lone point of the season for Chivas in a 1-1 draw at NY (5/23).
2011: Set career-high with 18 appearances and three assists for Chivas USA, making eight starts and registering 958 minutes despite batting a hamstring injury. Assisted on the opening goal in 1-1 draw at KC (7/9) and the second goal in a 3-0 win vs. HOU (7/23). Recorded second assist on Juan Pablo Angel’s 90th minute equalizer in 1-1 draw vs. PHI (10/2).
2010: Selected 10th overall in MLS SuperDraft by Chivas USA after three-year career at Akron. As a rookie, established career-highs in starts (16), minutes (1,369), and goals (three). Made professional debut in 2-0 loss to LA (4/1). Recorded first career point when he assisted in opening goal of 3-2 win vs. SJ (4/24) and scored first career goal in 4-0 win at NE (5/5). Netted the equalizer in 1-1 draw vs. PHI (7/3) and the game-winner in 3-1 win vs. CLB (7/31).
College
Played three seasons at Akron (2007-09), scoring seven goals and six assists in his career. In 2009, was named to the All-MAC First Team and All-Great Lakes Region First Team. Recorded the game-winning penalty kick in a shootout against the University of North Carolina to advance to the NCAA Division I championship game. Named to All-MAC Second Team and All-Great Lakes Region Third Team as a sophomore in 2008.
International Experience
As a member of the U-20 national team pool, Gavin scored a goal in the championship match against Honduran club CD Victoria in February 2007.
Personal
Born January 8, 1989, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Younger brother Michael played at University of Portland and for the LA Galaxy in 2008. Played club soccer for the Sereno (Ariz.) Soccer Club, which was ranked No. 1 in the nation, winning the Arizona State Cup four years in a row, as well as winning nationally-acclaimed tournaments such as the Surf Cup, Celtic Cup, Nomads and the Disney Soccer Showcase. Was selected to participate in adidas-ESP in the summer of 2006 and was a member of Region 4 ODP team which represents the top players in the West Region. Played the summer of 2007 with the Bradenton Academies of the PDL.
