HOW ACQUIRED: Selected by Sounders FC in the Third Round (48th overall) of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft
Andy Craven may hail from a small town, but it has a distinguished recent lineage of producing great soccer players. Morgan Brian, who won a World Cup with the USWNT in 2015, also calls St. Simons Island, Georgia home. The talented former North Carolina forward is a lanky menace around the net as one of the preeminent goal poachers to filter through college soccer in the last few years. The Sounders liked him so much after his rookie campaign in 2015 they re-signed him after the season.
INTERNATIONAL: Craven, 24, has yet to appear for the full national team, but he has had some experience at the youth level. He was part of the U.S. U17 team’s run to the knockout stage at the 2009 U17 World Cup.
COLLEGE: After transferring from College of Charleston to North Carolina 2012, Craven blossomed into one of the most dangerous forwards in the country. He returned from injury in 2014 for his senior year with a vengeance, leading the nation in goals (15), game-winning goals (8), and total points (35). In 2014, he was a finalist for the Hermann Trophy, which he narrowly lost to Patrick Mullins.
