Silva is a versatile midfielder who is most comfortable attacking on the right side. His passing qualities and speed should add a different dimension to the Montreal attack.

INTERNATIONAL: He has played four games with the Uruguay national team, making his senior debut on March 27, 2013, against Chile in a 2014 World Cup qualifying game. More recently, has played two friendly games against Ireland and Italy, in June 2017. He previously represented Uruguay with the U23 national team.

OUTSIDE MLS: Silva has taken part four times in the Copa Libertadores tournament throughout his career, helping Paraguayan club Olimpia in 2013 and Argentine club CA Lanús in 2017 reach the final of the South American continental competition. He recorded five goals and 11 assists in 37 career games and 2,309 minutes in the competition, tying for fourth in 2017 for most assists with four. He also totalled two goals and two assists in 19 Copa Sudamericana games and appeared in one Recopa Sudamericana game. He spent most of the last five years with Argentine first division side Club Atlético Lanús, recording 10 goals and eight assists in 58 games, including 48 starts, and 4,116 minutes. He won the 2016 Superliga, 2016 Copa Bicentenario and the 2016-17 Supercopa Argentina while scoring one goal in five Copa Argentina games. Silva started his career with hometown club Centro Atlético Fénix, in Montevideo, playing three seasons in the Uruguayan first division from 2009-10 to 2011-12. He then played two seasons with Olimpia, in the Paraguayan first division, scoring nine goals in 45 games, including 38 starts, in 2012 and 2013, before leaving for Argentina. He also played a season on loan with Uruguayan club Peñarol, in 2014-15, and returned on loan with Olimpia for the 2015-16 season.
