PRONUNCIATION: ASH

The nine-year MLS veteran joined Columbus this offseason, becoming one of the first free agent signings in league history. The speedy left-footed player with one-on-one attacking and defending ability has been one of the steadiest left backs in the league over the past five years.

INTERNATIONAL: Called up to 2013 Gold Cup squad but did not make an appearance. Called up to United States U-23 national team in 2008 for prestigious Toulon Tournament and appeared in all three games May 21-25. Represented U.S. at FIFA U-17 World Championships in 2003.

COLLEGE: Attended University of North Carolina. Finished four-year career with 22 goals and 54 points.
