Columbus Crew SC have joined in on the free-agency fun, signing veteran fullback Corey Ashe.
Crew SC announced the acquisition on Friday morning, making the 29-year-old defender the third player from MLS's initial free agent class to sign a deal this week. Ashe's arrival in Columbus comes after Justin Mappjoined Sporting Kansas City and Drew Moorsigned with Toronto FC, and helps Crew SC fill the hole left by Chris Klute's trade to Portland.

He is a dynamic fullback who has played a big role on successful teams throughout his tenure in this league,” said Crew sporting director and head coach Gregg Berhalter. “He has won an MLS Cup, has played in two more, and will provide veteran leadership and experience to our backline. We feel that Corey will be an ideal fit for our system.”
A nine-year MLS veteran, Ashe boasts a bevy of league experience after playing in 220 regular-season matches. He has spent the bulk of his career thus far with the Houston Dynamo, but was traded to Orlando City midway through the 2015 campaign.
Ashe made eight starts in nine appearances and logged three assists last season. All his playing time came with Orlando City.
