Inter Miami CF have continued their busy offseason in the front-office department, announcing Thursday that they’ve hired Mark Prizant as the club’s director of scouting.
Prizant joins from Manchester United, where he was a first team scout in the United States. Based in New York while working for the Premier League side, he specialized in talent identification and recruitment.
Additionally, Inter Miami have hired Sam Gregory as their director of analytics. Gregory comes from a tenure as York United FC’s director of on-field analytics.
“Mark has a proven scouting track record both nationally and internationally, while Sam is very knowledgeable in the analytics field. We’re thrilled to have them onboard,” Chris Henderson, Inter Miami’s chief soccer officer and sporting director, said in a release.
From November 2013 through July 2016, Prizant worked as the Philadelphia Union academy’s director of talent identification. He was also briefly the Chicago Fire U-23 head coach before spending several months as a US Soccer Development Academy scout. From 2011 to 2013, Prizant served as an assistant coach for Florida Gulf Coast University’s men’s soccer team.
Aside from being with York United FC in the Canadian Premier League, Gregory worked at both Opta (now StatsPerform) and Sportlogiq, a computer vision-driven sports analytics company that’s based out of Montreal.
Inter Miami are entering their second MLS season, now with former England women’s national team manager Phil Neville as head coach. Henderson has joined from the Seattle Sounders, and co-owner and president of soccer operations David Beckham has reportedly taken a more active role over team affairs.
