TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
LAFC have signed goalkeeper Tomas Romero to a Homegrown contract, the club announced Monday. LAFC acquired his homegrown rights from the Philadelphia Union on January 21 for $50,000 General Allocation Money.
Romero, 20, made 17 appearances with Philly's USL Championship affiliate. He was called up by El Salvador to their U-23 national camp, set for February 1-10.
“Tomas is an exciting prospect with experience at the youth, collegiate and international levels,” Co-President & GM John Thorrington said in a club statement. “He will be a strong addition to our goalkeeping group, and we look forward to seeing him develop further here at LAFC.”
Romero spent one season in college, helping lead Georgetown University to a national title in 2019. He's the third goalkeeper on LAFC's roster, alongside Kenneth Vermeer and Pablo Sisniega.
