TRANSFER TRACKER: Report
The Portland Timbers appear to be on the verge of several offseason moves, per a Thursday report from ESPN's Jeff Carlisle.
The first one comes via a trade, with Carlisle reporting that the Timbers have agreed to send Homegrown left back Marco Farfan to LAFC in exchange for $300,000 in allocation money. Farfan, 22, has spent his youth and professional career with the Timbers, starting with their academy before making 34 appearances (23 starts) at the MLS level. He has also played in 56 games for Timbers 2.
Farfan became the club's youngest-ever signing when he inked his Homegrown deal in 2016. He would give LAFC some depth and potentially compete for starting minutes along their back line, where Bob Bradley's group found themselves vulnerable during the 2020 season.
With Farfan seemingly on his way out, Carlisle also reported that the Timbers have a big-time addition arriving at the same position.
That would be Argentine left back Claudio Bravo, who has been linked with a potential move to the Timbers for weeks from Argentine club Banfield. That deal is pending a physical and work visa, but assuming those hurdles are cleared, the 23-year-old would join the Timbers after making 55 appearances with Banfield across all competitions.
Bravo has made eight appearances for Argentina’s U-23 national team and debuted for Banfield in 2017-18. He would join Diego Valeri, Sebastian Blanco and Tomas Conechny as fellow Argentines currently on Portland's roster.
