The MLS Disciplinary Committee has handed down two suspensions as well as fines following Round One and the Conference Semifinals of the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Orlando City mass confrontation
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has found Orlando City SC in violation of the mass confrontation policy in the 60th and 71st minutes of their Eastern Conference Semifinal match against the New England Revolution in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs on Nov. 29. Orlando has violated the mass confrontation policy for a third time this season, and the organization and head coach Oscar Pareja have been fined an undisclosed amount for their actions
Due to their roles in instigating and escalating a mass confrontation incident, Orlando City midfielder Junior Urso has been fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in the 60th minute, and Daryl Dike has been fined an undisclosed amount for his actions in the 71st minute.
Mauricio Pereyra serious foul play
Additionally, Orlando City SC midfielder Mauricio Pereyra has been suspended for an additional match, two matches total, and fined an undisclosed amount for serious foul play in the 60th minute of the Eastern Conference Semifinal match against the New England Revolution in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs on Nov. 29. Pereyra will serve his suspensions in Orlando City’s first two matches of the 2021 MLS Regular Season.
Jonathan Osorio violent conduct
Toronto FC Jonathan Osorio has been suspended for one match and fined an undisclosed amount for violent conduct in the 32nd minute of the Eastern Conference Round One match against Nashville SC on Nov. 24. Osorio will serve his suspension in Toronto’s first match of the 2021 MLS Regular Season.
The play was reviewed under Disciplinary Committee Parameter #3, in which the Disciplinary Committee may act where the Professional Referees Organization (PRO) acknowledges an on-field referee or Video Review error, and where the Committee is unanimous that the play warrants at least a one match suspension as a clear and unequivocal red card, is egregious and/or repeat behavior in nature, and/or the Committee must act to protect player safety or the integrity of the game.
