TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Atlanta United signed forward Jackson Conway to a Homegrown contract on his 19th birthday, the club announced Thursday.
Conway was Atlanta United 2’s leading scorer during the 2020 season.
“We’re happy to see Jackson’s continued development and it’s a complement to his hard work that he’s earned a first team contract,” Atlanta United vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement. “Jackson is a great example of our club’s pathway to the professional level as he joined our Academy program prior to its first season with the dream of becoming an MLS player. He worked his way through our system and after excelling in the USL Championship last season, he deserves an opportunity at the next level.”
Conway was part of Atlanta United’s inaugural season in 2016-17 and continued to work his way up the club’s pyramid. After helping lead the club’s U-16 side to the U.S. Soccer Development Academy national championship in 2017, Conway turned professional and signed with ATL UTD 2 on Dec. 20, 2018.
He scored five goals in his first season in the USL Championship and struck for six in just 10 appearances in the shortened 2020 campaign, including this stunner against the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
The Leeds, England-born forward is the ninth Homegrown signing in Atlanta United's history.
