Giovanni Reyna is off to a scorching start during his second Borussia Dortmund season, and now Marca is reporting that the 17-year-old midfielder is drawing interest from Real Madrid.
The Spanish outlet outlines that the La Liga giants are already eyeing Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland, and they have the New York City FC academy product in their crosshairs as well.
Reyna has two goals and four assists in five matches across all competitions this season, memorably recording a hat trick of assists in Dortmund’s last Bundesliga match Oct. 3. Two of those helpers in a 4-0 win over SC Freiburg set up goals from the 20-year-old Norwegian forward.
While Real Madrid seem most focused on Haaland, the Reyna links are definitely enticing. If it came to fruition, it’d bear resemblance to when US men’s national team attacking midfielder Christian Pulisic secured a $72 million transfer from Dortmund to Premier Leagues side Chelsea ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Dortmund return to action Saturday against TSG Hoffenheim, and Reyna will be well-rested after the USMNT didn’t partake in the October international break. Reyna, now entrenched in Dortmund’s starting XI, largely came off the bench a season ago.
