Tyler Adams is no doubt walking on air at the moment, coming off his game-winning goal for RB Leipzig that sent the club to the semifinals of the UEFA Champions League with a 2-1 victory over Spanish powerhouse Atletico Madrid.
The 21-year-old US men's national team up-and-comer and former New York Red Bulls star joined CBS Sports ahead of Friday's UCL match between Bayern Munich and Barcelona to discuss the aftermath of the huge goal, and gave a shoutout to USMNT legend DaMarcus Beasley, who joined the broadcast, with Adams saying that Beasley — the first American to play in the semifinals of the Champions League — and players from his era acted as role models for him growing up as an aspiring professional.
"DaMarcus is obviously a huge role model of mine growing up, along with a lot of other national team members," Adams said. "When you're able to watch them compete in World Cups as a young kid and then be able to go on and represent your country at the senior national team level, it's guys like him that paved the way. So, I think that now that I'm obviously going into the semifinal of a Champions League competition like this, we're confident in our abilities, we're confident in our team. But now it's about going out and executing against top teams like PSG."
