Former New England Revolution defender Marshall Leonard is beginning his time as an attending physician in a New York City metropolitan-area hospital as the region continues to be America's most afflicted by the coronavirus pandemic, his brother has revealed on Twitter.
Leonard spent six seasons on the books in Foxborough, including two as a regular starter after playing collegiately at Virginia. He was placed on the season-ending injury list in 2006 after suffering a torn Achilles tendon, and never returned to MLS play.
Leonard attended medical school and also did his ER residency at Stony Book University on Long Island, completing residency in 2019. His father, Tommy Leonard, Jr. is also an M.D. and medical school professor.
