TRANSFER TRACKER:Trade
LAFC announced on Wednesday that they have acquired the No. 1 spot in the MLS Allocation Ranking from Nashville SC in exchange for a combined $350,000 in General Allocation Money in 2020 and 2021, LAFC’s natural second-round selection in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, and the No. 24 spot in the Allocation Ranking.
The move would appear to pave away for LAFC to sign defensive reinforcement following their recent trade of U.S. international center back Walker Zimmerman to Nashville. Honduras international and former D.C. United fullback Andy Najar, has been training with the Supporters' Shield holders and reportedly nearing a transfer from Belgian side Anderlecht.
The Allocation Process determines which MLS Club has first priority to acquire a player listed on the Allocation Ranking List. The list consists of select US national team players, elite youth US internationals and former MLS players returning to the league after joining a non-MLS club for a transfer fee greater than $500,000. Najar falls into the third category after he left D.C. following the 2012 season.
The Allocation Ranking Order is set by taking the reverse order of the club’s standings at the end of each MLS Season, taking playoff performance into account, with the new expansion clubs at the top of the order. The rankings reset at the end of each MLS season.
