TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signings
Nashville SC have signed four of their selections from the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, the club announced Tuesday.
Ahead of the start of their debut 2020 campaign, the expansion side has signed midfielder Tanner Dieterich, midfielder Luke Haakenson, midfielder Alistair Johnston and goalkeeper Elliot Panicco. Panicco and Johnston were picked in the first round of this year's SuperDraft along with No. 2 overall selection Jack Maher, who was already on Nashville's roster as part of the Generation adidas program. Dieterich was a second-round selection, while Haakenson was the second pick in the fourth round.
Johnston, 21, was taken with the No. 11 overall pick that Nashville acquired in a trade with the Colorado Rapids for $75,000 in General Allocation Money. The midfielder/fullback was selected out of Wake Forest, where he was coming off a standout college career that saw him net six goals in 43 appearances.
Panicco, 23, was selected two picks later out of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he appeared in 77 games from 2015-2019.
Dieterich, 21, was picked at the No. 28 spot out of Clemson, where he was a three-year team captain and named to the All-ACC second team in his senior season of 2019.
The 22-year-old Haakenson was Nashville's final selection of the draft out of Creighton, where he logged 74 matches in his collegiate career and came in second on the team in his 2019 senior season that saw him score five goals.
