TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

After a whirlwind of rumors and speculation, Inter Miami CF have their man, announcing on Monday that the club has acquired attacking midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro from Liga MX champions Monterrey.

The announcement brings a close to the lengthy transfer saga linking the 26-year-old attacker to MLS, and gives Inter Miami its biggest-name signing to date as the club gears up for its 2020 expansion season.

“We’re very happy to have a player of Rodolfo’s quality join the Club,” said Paul McDonough, Inter Miami CF’s COO & Sporting Director in a team release. “He is a creative midfielder who strengthens our roster and elevates everyone’s quality on the field.”

The move reunites Pizarro with head coach Diego Alonso, who he previously played under at Monterrey. Pizarro first broke into Liga MX in 2012 with Pachuca, scoring eight goals across 134 appearances there before making a move to Chivas Guadalajara. After a 45-game stint with Chivas that saw him net 13 more goals, Pizarro has spent the last two seasons with Rayados, where he netted eight times in 50 appearances. He also has five goals in 25 senior caps with the Mexican national team.

Pizarro will join Miami as the club continues to navigate its preseason schedule ahead of its inaugural MLS match, which is set for a March 1 road trip to Supporters' Shield-winning LAFC
