Minnesota United forward Luis Amarilla scored a header in his preseason debut and Mason Toye bagged a brace, helping the Loons to a 5-0 victory over USL Championship side Miami FC on Saturday on the campus of Eastern Florida State College.
Amarilla and Jan Gregus scored before halftime for Minnesota, who remain perfect three matches into their preseason. Then, Toye added twice in the second half to give him four preseason goals and 2020 MLS SuperDraft fourth-round selection Andrew Booth rounded out the scoring.
The game concludes the Loons' first stage of preseason training in South Florida. They'll relocate to Portland, Ore., for the next phase for matches against three MLS foes: Portland Timbers, New England Revolution and Vancouver Whitecaps.
