TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan
The Philadelphia Union have officially loaned forward Cory Burke to Austrian club SKN St. Polten, the Union announced Thursday. The loan is set to run through June and the player is expected to re-join Philly at that point.
Burke has not played in MLS since April 2019 due to visa issues. He joined Jamaican club Portmore United on loan in September, where he had 11 goals in 20 appearances.
The move has been in the works for a while, with sporting director Ernst Tanner confirming talks last month.
“I think they have a good situation for him, as he will join a club where the coach is a friend of mine and he knows everything about the player,” Tanner told reporters. “The goal is to give him match practice on the higher level than he has had so far."
Burke's departure leaves Philly with Kacper Przybylko, Sergio Santos and Andrew Wooten as senior striker options.
