TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Report
Orlando City are expected to bolster their defense this offseason, and a new report claims they could look to Brazil to fill a slot on the backline.
The Mane Land reported on Tuesday Orlando City are nearing a deal to add Palmeiras defender Antonio Carlos on a one-year loan, after initial reports emerged from Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte.
Antonio Carlos, 26, is a center back who has played at several clubs in his native Brazil. Starting out at powerhouse Corinthians, he's also featured for Oeste, Avai, Ponte Preta, and since 2017, Palmeiras. He won the 2018 Serie A title there and also made the team of the year for the Sao Paulo state championship competition last year. With experience in the Copa Libertadores, Antonio Carlos is also a former Brazil U-20 international.
Orlando City have a new head coach for the 2020 season in Oscar Pareja, and will kick off their regular-season campaign Feb. 29 at home against Real Salt Lake.
