Nashville SC are moving to sign young Honduran defender Denil Maldonado, according to reports out of that country.
A regular for Motagua, who recently reached the final of the Concacaf League before falling to Costa Rica’s Deportivo Saprissa 1-0 on aggregate, Maldonado can play center back or right back.
A youth international dating back to U-17 level, he has climbed into the reckoning for Honduras’ senior national team this year, earning four caps to date.
If he joins the 2020 MLS expansion newcomers, Maldonado would be the third Central American on their roster so far, joining Panamanian Anibal Godoy and Costa Rican Randall Leal.
