TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Waived
The Colorado Rapids have placed center back Axel Sjoberg on waivers, the club announced Wednesday.
Sjöberg, 28, made 88 appearances for the club after being selected No. 14 overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He made just seven appearances in 2019. He signed a three-year contract extension in 2017.
“Axel has been a top professional for this club,” Rapids EVP and GM Pádraig Smith said in a club statement. “His contributions, particularly in our 2016 season, will always be remembered and we would like to thank him for his time here and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
The Rapids signed center back Drew Moor earlier on Wednesday, after acquiring Auston Trusty and Lalas Abubakar earlier this offseason.
