The 2019 MLS End-of-Year Waiver Draft will take place on Monday at 3 pm ET, the first major opportunity clubs around the league will have to stockpile some new talent as the offseason gets underway in full force.
Teams will have an opportunity to select from the list of players below, who are eligible due to not meeting the minimum years of service requirement for the Re-Entry Draft or Free Agency. A full breakdown of the rules and procedure for the process can be found here.
There are some interesting names on this year's list, but there's little precedent for anything overly-splashy taking place, as teams typically use the Waiver Draft as a way to acquire lower-cost contributors. Players that have been selected in Waiver Drafts over the last five years include:
- Marcus Epps to the New York Red Bulls from the Philadelphia Union (2018)
- Cristian Martinez to Chicago Fire FC from Columbus Crew SC (2018)
- Marco Urena to Chicago Fire FC from LAFC (2018)
- Ricky Lopez-Espin to LAFC from Real Salt Lake (2018)
- Kip Colvey to the Colorado Rapids from the San Jose Earthquakes (2017)
- Clement Diop to the Montreal Impact from the LA Galaxy (2017)
- Micheal Azira to the Colorado Rapids from the Seattle Sounders (2015)
- Nigel Reo-Coker to the Montreal Impact from Chivas USA (2014)
- Leandro Barrera to the San Jose Earthquakes from Chivas USA (2014)
- Bobby Burling to the Colorado Rapids from Chivas USA (2014)
FC Cincinnati will have the first overall selection this year, with the Vancouver Whitecaps, Orlando City SC, Sporting Kansas City and Columbus Crew SC rounding out the top five. Following the End-of-Year Waiver selections, MLS Free Agency will kick off immediately on Monday, with stage 1 of the league's Re-Entry Process beginning at 3 pm ET on Tuesday.
