TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Rumors
MLS Cup is in the rearview mirror and the league’s 2019 champions have been crowned. You know what that means: Silly season is now fully in swing.
The offseason transfer market saw an intriguing name thrown into the MLS mix this week, with chatter on social media connecting the Chicago Fire to Welsh international midfielder Joe Ledley.
Ledley, who turns 33 in January, is currently a free agent after leaving English Championship side Derby County at the start of this year. He’s reportedly been spotted touring Chicago sights and recently followed the club’s account on Instagram.
A recognizable figure due to his large beard, he's been a standout player for Cardiff City, Glasgow Celtic and Crystal Palace over the years, typically manning a box-to-box or defensive midfield role. His biggest moments at international level came during Euro 2016, where he helped Wales mount an unexpected run to the tournament’s semifinals.
