The US men's national team open Concacaf Nations League A action against Cuba Friday against Cuba at Audi Field, ahead of an anticipated showdown against Canada at BMO Field four days later.
While the USMNT play their first Group A match, Cuba are already 0-2-0 following consecutive defeats to Canada, losing 7-0 on aggregate last month. During the same FIFA window, the US fell to Mexico, 3-0, and drew Uruguay in a pair of international friendlies.
The winner of the three-team group advances to the Nations League semifinals and clinches a berth in the 2021 Gold Cup.
Since a 5-2 defeat in 1947 and a 1-1 draw two years later, the USMNT have defeated Leones del Caribe eight straight times.
