After this past weekend’s 4-2 loss at LAFC, New York Red Bulls midfielder Kaku again commented on his future with the club.
The Paraguayan international, 24, has been rumored with a move to Liga MX Club America. He expressed a desire to eventually play beyond MLS, but that he’s also focused on his season with the defending Supporters’ Shield champions.
“[My agent] knows my wish and what I think,” Kaku told gathered reporters. “I know in the future I'll go abroad and try to continue to advance my career and continue to grow as a player. I haven't spoken to my representative about the rumor now. So I'm thinking about the Red Bulls and trying to go the farthest possible in the next three months."
Kaku burst onto the scene in 2018, recording six goals and 14 assists as after signing from Huracan, a club his native Argentina. That form has cooled off some, as Kaku has three goals and four assists in 2019. Earlier this season, Kaku was suspended an additional two games after receiving a red card for blasting a ball into the stands at Sporting Kansas City.
Similar transfer speculation surrounded Kaku before and during the early portions of the 2019 season. However, no move developed at the time.
"I'd like the challenge,” Kaku said. “But I'm thinking only about the Red Bulls and if an offer arrives, they'll have to talk and we'll sit down and all speak together. Like I said before, my representative knows my wish and what I think and what I want with my family. So we'll wait to see what happens in this last stretch for America to close out their transfers."
