TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Columbus Crew SC have signed Scottish midfielder/defender Chris Cadden, who will immediately go on loan to Oxford United in England and join the Crew in 2020, the club announced Tuesday.
Cadden, 22, had most recently played for Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League where he made 139 appearances, wit 12 goals and 21 assists. A versatile player, Cadden has featured at right midfield, right back and central midfield during his career.
“We have been active during this transfer window in looking to strengthen our roster in both the short and long-term,” Crew SC president and GM Tim Bezbatchenko said in a statement. “In negotiating this particular transaction, it simply made sense for all parties for the player to join the Club in 2020 after gaining valuable experience in England this summer and fall. A postseason push this year remains a critical priority for this Club and we will continue to use this transfer window to fortify our team to deliver results.”
He has earned two caps for the Scottish national team.
