TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Reports
Matias Almeyda is working his contacts in his homeland to bolster the San Jose Earthquakes’ attack this summer, according to multiple media reports in that country linking the club to a move for striker Andres Rios.
Rios, 29, is a former Argentina youth international who came through River Plate's academy system in 2007 and has logged time (and scored goals) in several leagues abroad, from Poland to Ecuador to Liga MX and Brazil. He returned home to join Racing Club this year but dwindled down the depth chart as the club cruised to a Superliga championship.
According to Olé, Racing own Rios’ rights through June of next year but are prepared to part ways with the frontrunner, who can also work a right-sided attacking role, for a $200,000 fee.
