TRANSFER TRACKER:Report
The Malmo-to-MLS pipeline looks to be alive and well, according to a report from Swedish outlet SportExpressen.
Anders Christiansen is said to have an offer from an MLS club, though no specific team is named. Christiansen, 29, plays defensive midfielder and has three caps for Denmark’s national team.
In recent years, he’s logged stops with Chievo Verona in Italy’s Serie A and Belgian club K.A.A. Gent, which is home to Canadian national team forward Jonathan David. However, the bulk of Christiansen’s experience arrives via Scandanvian leagues. Across the Champions League and Europa League, he’s featured in 25 games.
The Malmo trend was highlighted by MLSsoccer.com ahead of the 2018 season, with New York City FC right back Anton Tinnerholm among notable alumni in the league.
Could Christiansen be next? That’s entirely possible, with SportExpressen reporting representatives from an MLS club are flying to Sweden to complete the deal.
