Brandon Servania is the answer to the trivia question of who scored the first US men's national team goal at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The FC Dallas midfielder leveled matters 1-1 for the US in the 32nd minute in their Group D opener against Ukraine Friday at Bielsko-Biała Stadium.
Just six minutes after falling behind, Servania, who has spent much of this season with North Texas SC, FC Dallas’ USL League One affiliate, put the finishing touches on a terrific buildup.
The US sliced through the Ukraine defense with quick touches. The ball was worked out to Tim Weah into space on the left side of the 18-yard box and the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder cut the ball back to the edge of the yard-box where the 20-year-old tapped home.
Equally impressive was Servania’s orchestrated sparring session with Chris Gloster.
