In his previous 132 MLS matches, Steve Birnbaum had scored seven times. He's not an experienced goal celebrator, to say the least.
When Birnbaum headed home the opening goal in D.C. United's 2-1 win over Orlando City SC, he appeared to reveal some familial news by putting the ball under his shirt. After the game, he was asked about that celebration.
"I found out that my wife's pregnant," Birnbaum told FOX Sports' Katie Witham. "I'm sure she's gonna be mad at me, but I don't score much, so I had to do it!"
Witham said it best at the end of the interview: "Go call your wife!"
