It's the start of the Matias Almeyda era in San Jose ... as the Earthquakes look to recover from finishing with the league's fewest points last season.
The club didn't have much wiggle room under the cap this offseason, meaning Almeyda will have to work with largely last season's group. Chris Wondowloski is still around, and just one goal from tying Landon Donovan's all-time MLS record for goals.

Projected Starting XI
Team strengths and weaknesses
- Strength: Between new head coach Matias Almeyda and soon-to-be all-time MLS goal king Chris Wondolowski, the Quakes should be inspired to show plenty of fiery spirit and fight in 2019.
- Weakness: They had the worst record in MLS in 2018 -- so progress will invariably have to start with team defense, including more reliable goalkeeping. New acquisitions Marcos Lopez (left back) and Daniel Vega (goalkeeper) should help.
