TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Rumor
After splashing $8.5 million to sign Romanian attacker Alexandru Mitrita, NYCFC reportedly aren't done adding to their attack yet.
According to Cope, NYCFC are interested in signing Spanish striker Carlitos (full name Carlos Daniel Lopez Huesca), who currently plays for Legia Warsaw in the Polish first division. Last season, he was the league's leading scorer with 24 goals. He also had seven assists, good for joint-fourth-most in the league.
Carlitos, 28, bounced around the lower divisions in Spain before starring in Poland, where he's been since 2017. His stellar campaign that season with Wisla Krakow earned him a move to Warsaw, where he has eight goals and three assists in 20 league matches this term as his side currently sit in second place.
While in Spain, Carlitos featured for CF Fuenlabrada, CD Eldense and Villarreal's B team before heading to Poland.
NYCFC currently don't have a natural center forward on the roster in the wake of the offseason departures of David Villa and Jo Inge Berget. They have a wealth of attacking options, between Mitrita, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi, Jesus Medina, Maxi Moralez, Jonathan Lewis, Valentin Castellanos and others.
