In an almost-preview for future clashes, the Montreal Impact will take on Nashville SC on Wednesday in action during Preseason presented by Advocare. Nashville will be playing in the USL Championship this year, but will make the move to MLS in 2020, so the teams will square off regularly in future seasons.
Montreal Impact
The Impact continue preparations in Florida, where they drew their first preseason clash, a 1-1 stalemate against MLS expansion side FC Cincinnati, last week. Ignacio Piatti opened the scoring for the Quebec outfit.
"I think the mental part is harder than the physical part, really," said Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush in footage provided by the team, reflecting on the challenges of preseason. "And that's to be expected and I think that's what the staff wants to get out of it, where you're pushing through things, you're pushing through physically, with your mind. Because your body can do whatever your mind tells it to do."
Nashville SC
Nashville are currently coached by former MLS Cup-winning manager Gary Smith, and are coming off an inaugural 2018 season which saw them reach the USL playoffs and put down roots in central Tennessee. The club has already begun making moves with their MLS arrival in mind, as they have signed forward Daniel Rios and 2018 USL Golden Boot winner Cameron Lancaster. Both players will play for the USL Championship squad this season.
