Landon Donovan is set to come out of retirement for a third time.
The all-time leader in goals and assists for both Major League Soccer and the US national team will join the San Diego Sockers of the Major Arena Soccer League, according to Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl. The Sockers are currently in first place of their division with a record of 10-1. Former MLSer Dwayne De Rosario features in the league as well.

Donovan, 36, initially retired after the 2014 season but re-joined the Galaxy at the end of the 2016 season due to an injury crisis at the club. He hung up the boots again before being enticed to return to the game by Club Leon in Liga MX in 2018.
The legend won six MLS Cups during his time in MLS and is the namesake for the league's MVP trophy. His all-time USMNT goal tally was equaled by Clint Dempsey in 2017 and his MLS record goal tally is just one ahead of Chris Wondolowski, who figures to rewrite the record books in 2019. His assist records will stand for a while longer, though, with no one near him for club nor country.
