New York City FC will be without the services of midfielder Yangel Herrera in 2019.
The Manchester City player, who spent the last two seasons on loan with NYCFC, has joined La Liga side Huesca on loan, the club announced Tuesday. Huesca currently sit bottom of the Spanish top division, with 11 points after 19 matches.
Herrera, 21, is a highly rated defensive midfielder and a Venezuelan international. He made 33 appearances across two seasons for NYCFC, overcoming what was believed to be a season-ending injury in May last season to return just ahead of the playoffs.
In 2018, NYCFC were 8-1-3 in games that Herrera started and played more than 20 minutes. They were 8-9-5 in games in which he played 20 minutes or less.
