TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Re-signed
The Philadelphia Union's all-time leader in minutes played is coming back in 2019. Fullback Ray Gaddis has re-signed for the 2019 season, the club announced Wednesday.
Gaddis, who turns 29 in January, has played the entirety of his career with the Union, making 172 MLS appearances since his debut in 2012. In 2018, he played in 28 matches and added two assists. He is yet to score an MLS goal.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Ray back to the Union,” said sporting director Ernst Tanner in a media release. “He is a tireless worker with an incredible heart and attitude to match. A crucial part of our locker room, he provides an excellent veteran presence on and off the field. He also serves as a role model for our younger players, particularly our young fullbacks.”
With Gaddis returning, the club's fullback depth has improved, though Tanner has been public in saying the Union will sign a left back this offseason. Gaddis is expected to compete with Olivier Mbazio for minutes on the right side of defense.
