The New England Revolution have a New Year resolution that their supporters will love to hear this January: Multiple lucrative additions to the squad.
Revs general manager Michael Burns asserts that the club's incomings are far from over, after acquiring forward Juan Fernando Caicedo in December, who will be added to the roster either as a Designated Player or with Targeted Allocation Money, in addition to left back addition Edgar Castillo.
“We were able to make some moves prior to the close of the year, but we still have some work to do and we still have some pieces to add,” Burns said, via the Revs official site. “We’re not done by any stretch. [We’ll be] adding some pieces, and ideally those pieces will be added by January 21. But we still have two months to go before the season opener.”
On December 19, Revs president Brian Bilello teased fans with potential additions, tweeting "Will add 3-4 above max salary players before the season. 1 or 2 of those will be DP. One announcement this week, not sure if we’ll be able to announce any others prior to 1/1."
The one announcement he promised ended up being Caicedo. The club reports for preseason on Jan. 21 before departing for training in Spain on Jan. 25.
