Oft-mentioned in coaching searches since his departure from the Portland Timbers after the 2017 season, Caleb Porter reportedly is close to finding his next job.
According to Kristian Dyer of The Athletic, Porter and the LA Galaxy are "deep in negotiations" for the 43-year-old to become the club's next head coach.
Porter and Galaxy president Chris Klein were seen at the Los Angeles Lakers game Monday night. Incoming GM Dennis te Kloese and AEG president and CEO Dan Beckerman were also seen courtside.
Porter won the 2015 MLS Cup with the Timbers and guided the team to playoff berths in three of the five seasons he was in charge. He previously built a powerhouse college program at the University of Akron from 2006-2012 before moving to Portland. He reportedly was interviewed for the open Columbus Crew SC head coaching position earlier this offseason.
