Major League Soccer announced on Monday that four networks in the US and Canada – Univision, ESPN, TSN, and TVA Sports – have entered into long-term broadcast partnerships to air the first annual Campeones Cup, the new competition between the league champions of MLS and Liga MX.
The first edition, taking place on Wednesday between Toronto FC and Tigres UANL at BMO Field (8:15 pm ET) will be aired on Univision, UDN and ESPN2 in the US, while the game will be shown on TSN and TVA Sports 2 in Canada, reaching millions of viewers on the continent in Spanish, English and French.
The deal is part of a historic collaboration forged between MLS and Liga MX earlier this year, with the four respective sports networks entering into broadcast deals as part of that collaboration. The leagues will work together on sharing best business practices and social responsibility efforts, and have committed to a future MLS All-Star Game that includes both leagues.
